I don't know that it portends a great Gentile harvest (although that would be most welcome), but it could portend the return of Christ. I read the Apocalypse saying that 144,000 Messianic Jews will be in place at the time of the catching away, and thereafter all Israel will be saved (Rom 11:25-26).
