America: 21 Days for A New Awakening

Thousands of Christians from evangelical, charismatic and Pentecostal movements have united across America to fast in some way and to pray for a spiritual awakening in this country.

“21 Days for A New Awakening,” was originally sponsored by Awakening America Alliance but subsequently has been joined by more than 90 national Christian leaders including major Christian organizations, ministries, and denominations such as:  Christian Broadcasting Network, Moody Broadcasting, Assemblies of God, Youth With a Mission, and Every Home for Christ, with more being added daily.

Participants are committing to respond in a number of different ways including: partial fasts, water fasts, Daniel fasts (only fruits and vegetables) and complete fasts. Some have committed to fasting for three days, one day a week, and even the entire 21 days.

Response: There are more and more Christians this year looking for and desperately seeking revival for our land. Come Holy Spirit continue to sow the seeds and let the Heavens be open. Let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in our midst. Amen.            *Top

The I-35 Initiative: “A Highway of Holiness”

Isaiah 35:8: “A highway will be there, a roadway, and it will be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean will not travel on it, but it will be for him who walks that way, and fools will not wander on it.”

The ‘I-35 Initiative’ is a campaign sponsored by Light the Highway which is a movement that wants to bring spiritual reformation and revival to our land and to the nations. According to the Founder, Cindy Jacobs:

“We want to start to build a Highway of Holiness for God that unites our nations, from the Canadian border to the Mexican border, and eventually extends around the world.”

For 35 days, the ‘I-35: Highway of Holiness’ initiative will sponsor 24-hour prayer rooms in at least 12 cities along I-35.

From Oct. 28 – Dec. 1, there will also be a number of special events and several evangelistic campaigns in cities along the entire 1,500-mile length of I-35, from Laredo, Texas to Duluth, Minn. Including revival services to be held Nov. 27-30 at First Trinity Church in Cedar Hill (Dallas area), and then on Dec. 1 at Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas.

The organizers are asking us all to respond in prayer for our own city and for the I-35 Initiative:

“Pray for God to remove the roots of violence in your city. Repent on behalf of the bloodshed that has occurred and ask for God’s cleansing and forgiveness to cover the land, Let’s prepare the highway for our God!”

May 3, 2007: National Day of Prayer (USA)

Today is the day to pray for our land (USA).

I believe that It is important for all Christians to unite in prayer today over the spiritual condition of this country and to seek Revival and a spiritual awakening for our land and people. With thousands praying, today would be a great time for the beginning of a break through.

Lord, let your light break through the darkness that engulfs our land and bring a new spiritual awakening to our people from coast to coast, from Alaska to Hawaii. Let your let shine from the east to the west, from the north and to the south, bring revival Lord. In Jesus name Amen.

“My Conversation with God”: An Anonymous Testimony That made My Day

I just finished reading an incredible article that I received from Christianity Today. It actual made my day and my night also! It is an anonymous testimony from a professor of theology which is obviously not Pentecostal or Charismatic. In fact he says:

I’m a middle-aged professor of theology at a well-known Christian university. I’ve written award-winning books. My name is on Christianity Today’s masthead. For years I’ve taught that God still speaks, but I couldn’t testify to it personally. I can only do so now anonymously, for reasons I hope will be clear.

A year after hearing God’s voice, I still can’t talk or even think about my conversation with God without being overcome with emotion. That’s one reason I know it was real; I’m not a person who shows emotion easily. Plus, I’m a skeptic about things supernatural. Not that I don’t believe they can happen; I just doubt most miracle stories except the ones in the Bible. I’ve even been known to criticize publicly what I consider to be overly experiential forms of Christianity. I suppose that makes this story especially ironic.

Here’s the link and the title: “My Conversation with God“. It is well worth the five minutes or so it takes to read it. warning: Kleenex might be needed. I had to hunt some up half way into it. Read my comments following: Read more »

2007: Jesus Stands at the Door of His Church Knocking

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. -Rev. 3:20

I really believe that this is a good picture of where we (the church) actually stand at the beginning of the new year. I believe that our Lord wants greater intimacy with his church and his people in 2007. ‘Greater intimacy with God’ is the one message that I have heard and read over and over again from numerous prophetic sources in reference to the new year.

I was reminded last night that Rev. 3:20 really applies in context to the church, when I read a word for 2007 posted by David Copeland of Revival Journal. Since then this picture keeps coming back to me.

“When Heaven Invades Earth: A Practical Guide to a Life of Miracles”

By Bill Johnson (Shippensburg,PA: Destiny Image Pub. Inc., 2003,190 pgs.)

Bill Johnson is the senior pastor of Bethel Church (AG) of Redding, California, but more than that, he is one of those leading the charge towards true revival. ‘When Heaven Invades Earth’ is more than a clever title, this book identifies how life can really change for the better when ‘The Kingdom’ really does come into one’s life, after all our prayers asking for it. Declaring a New Move of Holiness

This prophetic message was recently given by Cindy Jacobs:

“I desire a royal road for My glory across the earth. A way for My holiness, power and anointing to pour out. It is time for a new holiness move. This new move will not be like the last one, but it will flow with new wine and miracles. Read more »

Yom Kippur: The Biblical ‘Day of Atonement’

Today, October 2, 2006, is a special day on the Biblical calendar-named Yom Kippur, or in English-’The Day of Atonement’. It is the most important holy day of the year for Jews. It is day when Jewish folk consider their sins, ask for forgiveness and look for ways to make amends in the year to come. Many wear white shirts or clothes on this day to symbolize purity and to acknowledge the Biblical promise that sins will be made white as snow. Observances traditionally held in synagogues or temples, end with the blowing of the shofar.

While Christians do not traditionally recognize the special days or events in the Biblical (Jewish) calendar, ‘Messianic’ Christians do, and many others are enriched by the symbols, and find significance in the times and seasons that are represented. The Lord’s Supper and The Resurrection cannot be completely separated from ‘The Passover’, and the ‘Day of Pentecost’ is one Biblical/Jewish day still recognized in the church calendar.

by Kris Vallotton (Redding CA: Bethel Church, 2004, 95 pgs.)
