Here is a link to a timely devotional message by Dr. Mark D. Roberts based upon Genesis 11:1-9:
"Then they said, ‘Come, let’s build a great city for ourselves with a tower that reaches into the sky. This will make us famous and keep us from being scattered all over the world.’ " Gen. 11:4
In the devotional, Mark asks these questions:
QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION: Whose name matters most in your life? Do you seek your own fame first of all? How might you live for the praise of God’s glory today?
Response: These questions are particularly poignant considering all the problems that have surfaced lately among leaders and ministries in the Charismatic/Pentecostal community in America—so many seem to be trying to ‘make a name for themselves’.
However, Mark’s devotional is really intended for each of us—"Whose name matters most in your life?"
I must confess that too much of the time I’m concerned about my own reputation as ‘Dr.’ Michael G. Davis and not near enough about lifting up the Lord and giving him all the glory and praise that he so richly deserves. It is particularly humbling when I realize that He actually inspired everything I’ve ever done that was really worth anything. *Top
