TheCall–A Prophetic Cry for Revival

image Revival was a major subtext and focus of TheCall in San Diego on November 1st. There was a repeating call to prayer for revival in America and California during the 12 hour event. It was particularly intense during the final hour.

The significance of California in the beginning of number of major revivals and movements was cited and recalled as we looked forward to and prayed for God to move once more across this state and the entire country:

A 1890’s Holiness Movement, Azusa Street/Pentecostal Movement, Aimee Semple McPherson/Four Square Movement, Latter-Rain/Healing Movement, Bill Bright/Campus Crusade, Billy Graham/LA 1950, Jesus People Movement/Colleges/Calvary Chapel, John Wimber/Vineyard Movement…all had ties and beginnings in California.

During the last hour there was tremendous unction for revival prayer. Prophetic words were given over a call for light to spring forth from the darkness of San Francisco and Berkeley in particular.

The rebellion that typified my generation–the baby boomers, started in San Francisco in the 60’s with the Hippies and in Berkeley at the University of California.

There was a call for a new generation to rise up and reverse what happened in our American culture that started in the 60’s. A Call for revivals to spring up in San Francisco and in the California colleges and Universities, starting with Berkeley.

Interestingly, there were quite a few young folks there from the universities, probably 7-8,000 in attendance, including a student Christian group from Berkeley. The U. of California campus now has a majority student body of well disciplined Asian-American kids and lot’s of them are Christian. A real contrast to the 60’s.

The last 1/2 hour, there was a call for high school, college, and university students to dedicate themselves to God in a new more radical way, a call for prayer and fasting for revival on their campuses and in their cities.

From where I was siting, I could see the Holy Spirit blow through that group of 8-10,000 kids which was on the field standing in front of the stage–it was a sight to see–a real blessing and hope for the future.

There was a real response–followed by songs of rejoicing and celebration–which I will never forget, I’m still singing!

Revival: Perseverance and Blessing in China

Video: 29 min. 54 seconds

This is an incredible documentary about the Chinese church, a story of persecution, blessing, and perseverance–a story of true revival that cannot be stopped by a godless government. The church continues to expand against all odds at an incredible rate in spite of persecution.

This video gives a taste of what it is like to stand up for the faith in the midst of persecution. It is nearly 30 minutes long but it went by fast for me and gave me a perspective on the church in China that I will never forget.

During most of this documentary, Chinese worship and choir music is playing in the background–a real blessing. I really did experience the Holy Spirit in the midst of it!             *Top

Stillborn Baby Raised from the Dead

Here is the testimony of some teens from North Carolina who went on a ministry trip to Guatemala. In one village they visited in the home of a young woman who had given birth to a still born baby the day before. They proceeded to pray for the dead infant:

"We prayed for thirty to forty minutes.

At the end of that time, Julia screamed out to God, telling Him that she believed with all of her heart that this baby could be raised from the dead. After Julia screamed out, everyone was silent. We were quietly interceding and praying.

Within a few minutes, the baby started moving. Then the baby coughed and began crying. The mother came rushing into the room. She was screaming, what is going on? No one could answer her. We were just staring at the baby, who had come back to life. The mother asked us again, what is going on? She began crying as she saw that her baby was alive.

She ran out of the house and banged on every door in the village, telling all of the people that God is real because her baby was alive. Within about thirty minutes, the baby’s skin tone and movements had become completely normal."

What an incredible experience! These young Christians will never be the same and obviously the Young woman, her baby, and that village also. Praise God!

I found the link to this on blog. Kathi Sharpe mentions in the post that the teens had watched some of the Lakeland meetings on GodTV before they left on the mission and that’s where they got the idea to pray for the dead baby.            *Top

Was Tyree’s Super Bowl Catch a Real Miracle?

Most of the people that I talk this week in business are still raving about last Sunday’s Super Bowl game. All except the unfortunate diehard New England fans.

Most talk about the incredible 32 yard catch that David Tyree made on his helmet in the 4th quarter with 1:15 left in the game. Without it, the game is probably over and New England wins its 20th straight for a new record and an undefeated season. But David leaps up higher than he ever did before and makes an improbable catch.

Sportscasters are calling it a ‘miracle’ catch and maybe the best in Super Bowl history and even one of the NFL’s all time greatest. I know that some of you Patriot fans view the catch as a curse, but what if it really was a miracle catch–a real miracle?

In New Man eMagazine for today (February 7), David Tyree is interviewed and shares his testimony about his career and the special catch. This is what he says about the catch:

“Obviously that catch was the Ephesians 3:20 catch. You can do exceedingly and abundantly above all that you could ever ask or imagine.”

David says that he came to the game with great expectations because of a prophetic word spoken over him the night before.  Kim Daniels (founder of Spoken Word Ministries in Jacksonville, Fla.) whose son Michael Jennings also plays for the Giants, and her husband Ardell prayed with Tyree the night before the Super Bowl.  According to the interview:

Daniels told Tyree that the Lord would “quicken” his feet and that he would have “spiritual glue” on his hands and would make “the big play.” Daniels’ husband spoke a word from the Lord. The sports world would no longer know him as just a special teams player but as, “David Tyree, the receiver.”

Response: Does God care about Super Bowl games and give a miracle to the team he wants to win?  No, I don’t think so. There were Christians on both sides of the ball that day.

I do believe however, that The Lord does strengthen his children and bless them in remarkable ways. I believe that God does help us in our daily living and in our business or profession.  David Tyree’s job is to catch the football and his career more or less depends upon his success. In this case, ‘the catch’ does fulfill the words spoken over David the night before and no one will ever be able to persuade Tyree that it wasn’t a ‘real’ miracle. I’m a believer!           *Top
